If you are unfamiliar with massage or just would like to know what to expect during your session here at Kneadz Work, you are not alone. We are always being asked what should be worn or how long of a session should be booked or how often they should get a massage. We’ll do our best to answer all your questions.
What to Wear: During your session you may be asked to keep your clothes on. We, on occasion, will do stretching or release techniques that require putting your body in positions that might perhaps make it uncomfortable or expose you unintentionally. We recommend you wear comfortable clothes that can stretch or move with ease. Yoga pants, shorts or any athletic apparel is a good choice.
What to Expect: A general rule of thumb for massage is to “only undress to your comfort level”. It can be a nerve-racking experience to get a massage for the first time or from a new therapist at a new location. The disappointment of previous massage experiences rolling around in your head as you assess if this will be a “better” or “worse” encounter. Any regular massage recipient knows how all that feels. Rest easy. This won’t be that. In order for you to receive the best possible experience and result, we typically ask our clients to disrobe to “their comfort level”, however; if you want to get the “absolute” best results and allow the therapist to have access to all the areas that may be affected, we will recommend that you disrobe everything except your undergarments (bras are optional). If you choose to leave your bra on, we, by law, cannot and will not do any manipulations nor treatments that involve going beneath nor touching the bra. We will go around that article of clothing. Even sports bras are off limits. Our therapists are well trained and have the utmost integrity and professionalism. You will remain draped and NO parts of your genitalia, breast nor gluteal tissue will be exposed. If you are too uncomfortable with removing your undergarments, you, of course, have the option of keeping them on. We are only making you aware that it will change the feeling and perhaps the outcome of the massage experience.
How Long of A Session Should I Book and How Often Should I Get Treatment? The length of any session is determined by how many body parts you’d like us to focus on. “FOCUS” being the operative word here. Focus, to us, means we’ll spend most of the session working on these problems and broad stroke the other areas without as much effort or time. The more body parts you want us to focus on, the more time you’ll generally need, also the more chronic the affliction…..the longer and more often we may advice you to book. With massage results are cumulative, the more you do, the better you’ll feel and quicker you’ll typically get to your desired result. We advice everyone to get at least one 70 minute massage monthly. The benefits are far too many to list here but please feel free to research “the benefits of massage”. Typically, we will give you an idea of how often to come in. If we manage to forget, then please ask. We have session times as follows; 70 Minutes, 100 Minutes, 130 Minutes, 190 Minutes, 30 Minute Chair Massage and 60 Minute Lymphatic Massage.
